There was once a well-renowned and exemplary sage, who used to pray fervently in front of his Lord each day. Due to his sagacity and piety, this sage was held in great reverence and had a number of adherents.
One day, whilst this pious man was praying, one of his adherents came and sat next to him. During his prayers, God Almighty revealed something to this pious man, which was also overheard by one of his followers. However, this follower out of respect kept quiet. The next day, the pious man was once again busy in his prayers. Whilst sitting next to this pious man, the same follower heard the same revelation again. Once again, out of respect he kept quiet. The third day, the same thing happened. However, this time the follower could not control himself and burst out saying:
God Almighty has constantly been telling you that your prayer is not accepted, so why do you keep praying!
The pious sage replied:
You have only heard this rejection for three days and are suggesting that I give up praying, whereas I have heard this rejection for thirty years and I have not given-up or become disheartened. Anyways, who are you to interfere? It is simply my job to pray and it is for God Almighty to accept prayers as He pleases.
The next day God Almighty revealed to the sage that all his prayers from the past thirty years have been accepted.
We must always remember to never get disheartened and lose hope if our prayers are not accepted immediately. Allah the Almighty will never let your seeds go to waste as long as you keep working hard to make them grow.
